RABH2 - Development of very low carbon footprint hydrogen distribution, utilising:
90% lower cost alkaline electrolyser with low cost end-user fuel cell solutions manufacturing

Backed by the Technology Strategy Board, this pioneering project involves collaboration between Arcola Energy, RE Hydrogen and BOC. It will create the UK’s first end-to-end hydrogen energy ‘supply chain’ based on renewable sources.

The project aims are:

  • Development and manufacture of a 90% lower-cost 5kW electrolyser by RE Hydrogen
  • Installation of the electrolyser at BOC’s cylinder filling plant in St Helens, powered by ‘green’ electricity
  • Distribution of the resultant ‘very-lowcarbon’ hydrogen by BOC
  • Development and manufacture of a wide range of hydrogen fuel cell-based solutions by Arcola Energy which will utilise the ‘very-low-carbon’ hydrogen.
